Asian Typography

Hi, I recently purchased a Lenovo system and believe that it over-wrote some
settings in OfficeXp (2002).
When I click on Format-->Paragraph, I see Indents & Settings - Line and Page
Breaks AND Asian Typography (which I didn't not see previously when the
version of Office was installed on my old system).
Further when I click on Tool-->Options I notice that the selections include
Asian Typography, Japanese Find, Complex Script,......
I thought that may be the Control Panel-->Languages was set incorrectly but
it was set to English so I would appreciate your help in advising me what
changes I need to make in Office, Windows, ?????? to reset my system to
English ONLY?
Thank you for your support
Bob

This is a Windows, not a Word or Office question. This _might_ work
(I've never seen anyone want to _remove_ their Asian font
capabilities):

Start > Control Panel > Regional and Language Options > Languages >
Uncheck "Install files for East Asian languages."

If that doesn't do anything, go to the same page > Details and delete/
uncheck all the languages you don't want available, in both the upper
and the lower lists.

This is a Word (or Office) issue.

I forget exactly where you find this on XP (it's much easier in Vista -
start button, type "lang" or similar, select office language settings), but
from the Windows Start Menu, choose All programs > Microsoft Office > Office
Tools > Office XP Language settings (or something along those lines)

You should see that you have a far east language, probably Japanese,
enabled - just remove it from the list, or remove them all if more than one.
