Aspect ratio not staying when printed

When we paste an excel graph into a word document as Paste Special - Paste
Link - Microsoft Excel Chart Object (or Microsoft Office Graphic Oject), when
it is printed the aspect ratio doesn't hold. I have went into format object
- size - lock aspect ratio is checked. The layout doesn't affect it if that
is changed, by default it is in line with text. It is as if the "lock aspect
ratio" is being ignored. We currently have Office 2007, but this was also
occuring in XP/2003 we just never looked into it further. I have found that
pasting the link as a bitmap (Paste Special - Paste Link - bitmap) does work,
but it looks fuzzy. I'm just wondering if anyone has figured out a solution
for this?

PS this occurs with several different printers/computers.

Hi Experimenter,

Can you provide steps for doing this in a new document and new Workbook?
Please include the sizing dimensions of the Graph properties before and after pasting.

Are you working/saving in Word 2007 native (.docM) mode or in legacy compatibility mode (.doc)?

How much 'distortion' are you seeing between what you see on screen in Print Layout view, in Print Preview and when printed?

If you print or save to PDF from Word 2007 do you get the same results?

Office 2007 has a new chart/graph engine than what is in Office 2003, though the previous version is also available, so the steps
are important :)

In excel the graph is on its own worksheet (so 100% sizing). We click on the
graph, go to word, right click, Paste Special, Paste Link, Select Microsoft
Office Excel Chart Object (it actually happens when we select anything but
bitmap). The graph is then manually shrunk to fit the word document (they
will click on the corner of the pasted graph and shrink it to the desired
size). Typically the aspect ratio is around 50%-60%.

I do know what you are getting at though, if you shrink the graph size in
Excel prior to copying it, the aspect ratio will stay when printed because
then it is at 100% regardless. However, this still does not explain why the
aspect ratio is not staying when printed, even though Lock Aspect Ratio is
checked.
Are you working/saving in Word 2007 native (.docM) mode or in legacy compatibility mode (.doc)?
We are working with compatibility mode. Some of the programs we use are not
yet fully integrated with Office 2007, so all our programs are set to save in
the old format. As I stated before though, this was also happening in Office
XP/2003, prior to microsofts launch of 2007.
How much 'distortion' are you seeing between what you see on screen in Print >Layout view, in Print Preview and when printed?
When in Print Preview it looks as it should with the aspect ratio at 50-60%,
we can see the full graph. When actually printed, the aspect ratio jumps to
100%, but the it only prints 50-60% of the original sized graph.
If you print or save to PDF from Word 2007 do you get the same results?
Yes, that is how I have been testing it to save paper. In addition to adobe
we printed it on an HP printer as well as two seperate type of canon
printers, all with the same result. It also did this on 3 different
computers with in our office, and I had a friend who works at a different
company try it with the same results.

As stated earlier, I know Office 2007 in general inserts any object into the
word documents differently then it has in previous versions. However, this
was occuring in previous versions. The tech before me just didn't
investigate it further.
