assertion errors - "assertion failed"

Hi all - I keep getting a message "Assertion failed" when I am using Outlook
or Word, with the above file name and expression. It tells me to see how my
program can cause an assertion error by refering to the Visual C++
documentation - but I am absolutely lost in trying to understand this. I
first tried repairing the Small Business Edition Office 2003. When I still
got assertion error message I uninstalled and reinstalled, all to no avail.
Can someone please help me understand what's going on and what I can do to
repair this? And in language that I can understand? (I'm no techie!)
