Assign category to all members of a Distribution List

In OE, I set up many distribution lists and have now moved my contact into to
Outlook (Vista). I understand that there is more flexibility in using
categories than DL and would like to "mass assign" all members of a/ DL to a
single category - is that possible without coding the contacts one by one

No, you can't do anything to members of a dl within the dl.
