assign different master to one (first) slide

PPT 2003, XP, SP2

I am using one master in my presentation, and wanted to use a different one
on the introductory slide. When I create a new master, ppt automatically
assignes this master to a number of slides (1, 5-10, 17-22) upon its own
discretion and according to (at least to me) unknown criterias. How de I
tell ppt, to use the new master for slide Nr. 1 only, and keep using the old
master for the rest of the slides?

select slide one
Hover the mouse over the template you want in design pane. You should see a
drop down arrow to the right. Choose "apply to selected slides"

Did that answer the question / help?

Yes, it did, after I found out that newly created masters are available in
the design pane on the right hand side.

Thanks!
