Assigned proj# to inbound messages

I have Published a form in Outlook 2002 for new outgoing
messages that has a text field for entering a Project
Number (central to our filing system), but would also
like to have the same textbox for incoming messages.

How do I apply a Form to an existing directory of old
messages (ie. inbox) and all new inbound messages?

Go to www.slipstick.com and search on "default", without the quotes,
and one of the articles in the results set will tell all.

Paul,

Thanks for the advice. I followed the article but the
area I need to modify in the folder 'properties' dialog
box is ghosted/disabled. I have tackeled changing
permissions on MS Exchange, but this areas is still off-
limits?

Paul,

Having followed the article you suggested...when I right
click a folder (albeit private or public) and
choose 'properties', then select tab 'forms', there is a
list box at the top titled 'list of forms associated with
this folter'. My form has been sucessfully added to this
list.

Beneath the list box is a text box
labelled 'Description', presumably for any details
associated with the form.

At the bottom are three radio buttons bound by the
title 'Allow these forms in this folder'. I need to
select the first option 'Only forms listed above', but
all three radio buttons are ghosted.

This is the case for both personal and publix folders.

Any suggestions?

I think that if you select one or more names from the list at the top,
the buttons will enliven.

Unfortunately, still no go.

I also followed some Knowledge Base articles that seem to
help. Firstly Q1 in 287530, which lead me to 290659. I
downloaded the utility 'DocMessageClass' from slipstick
which allows me to update the message class of a folder.
I had limited sucess with this as the message class of my
customised form did not appear in the 'Change
Messageclass To:' listbox.

I went the Omsgclas.doc file and did okay with that,
however then the icons of the messages in the folders
appeared as Notes.

Sounds like you had not published the form to that folder, or had not
used the Forms Manager to move it to that folder.

however then the icons of the messages in the folders
appeared as Notes.

I have never paid attention to this problem in the past but I will ask
the ones who have to find out if there is a solution.

Sue Mosher replied: "Sounds like Peter never set an icon on the
(Properties) page of the form, in design mode."

Diane Poremski replied: "Even if he did, it doesn’t always affect the
icon. There is a mapi property that prevents the icon from changing –
it’s only present on some records and I don’t know if there is a rhyme
or reason behind why it’s present. Sig and I tinkered with it last
summer when some contact forms had the old icon instead of the new
contacts one."

So, it appears that this may be an intractable problem. But, check to
see if you have the proper icon defined in the custom form, change them
back to the standard form, and then try the conversion again.
