assigned tasks

[Tasking]

When an employee has completed his task and responds by completing his
assigned task in his own outlook. I receive an e-mail notifying of
completion. However my outlook task does not update to indicate completion of
assigned task. The original assigning task remains with "Waiting from
response from reciepient"
Why - how do I link the response of completion to the original assigned task?

Do you have settings for Keep an updated copy and Notify me when task is
completed? Tools | Options | Task Options (oh and that location is version
dependant so I'll assume 2003).

Do you OPEN the email that comes saying "Task completed: subject of task"?
That's what triggers the update.

I have "Keep an updated copy" and "Notify me " boxes ticked when assigning
task but it still does not work.
