Assignment Enterprise OutlineCode Values

Hi!

(ProjectPro 2003 sp2/ProjectServer 2003 sp2a)

I can't for the life of me understand the use of "Assignment" OC fields in
the OLAP cube - all assignments fall under the "No Value" category in all
the Assignment dimensions.
The Resource OC fields are alright, but the Assignment OC fields are not.

Digging a bit further into this - the OLEDB provider always returns "-1" for
the EnterpriseOutlineCodeX fields in the Assignments table.

My question to you all is therefore - are there anyone out there actually
using or seeing relevant data in the Assignment Enterprise OutlineCode
fields/dimensions anywhere (cube or otherwise) ??

Are you sure there's such a thing as assignment outline codes and you don't
mean assignment enterprise fields? Looking at the database schema, I only
see task and resource outline codes.. there are assignment enterprise fields
(*_CATEGORY = 3), but there's nothing about assignments.. in fact, looking
at the MSP_OUTLINE_CODES and MSP_CODE_FIELDS tables, I don't see where you'd
possibly put the WASSN_ID to identify an assignment and I don't see where I
could possibly add outline codes to an assignment in the project client
(though admittedly I'm a lot better with the DB and PDS than I am with the
project client).

Hi and thanks for the reply!

To clarify - yes, I do mean the Assignment Enterprise Outline Code 1-30
fields.
They appear in the OLAP cube together with matching Resource fields - i.e.:
If you modify ResEntOC1 in the EntGlobal and name the field "MyOC", then two
dimensions will be created in the cube: "Resource MyOC" and "Assignment
MyOC". Of these two, only the resource dimension will actually be of use, as
the data in MSP_CUBE_ASSN_FACT joining OutlineCodes will always match "No
Value" - at least on my machines...

This is because the OLEDB provider never returns anything else but -1 as the
id in the AssignmentEnterpriseOutlineCode1-30 fields.

At least - I can't figure out how to make not to... hence my question.
Someone will probably point out to me that I could just as easily use the
data in the Res-fields, and I agree, but what's bugging me is that there's
got to be a point to the Assn fileds in the cube and the OLEDB provider,
hasn't it??

By the way - to preempt questions on this matter - I haven't modified the
qylibsql.sql.

Hi all!
After trying the same on a brand new server installation I now get the
expected results in the Assignments OLEDB virtual table - sorry to bother
you with what apparently was a somewhat self-imposed problem... <blush>
