Assignment of Ressources - not dynamic enough?

Hi again

Is it possible to let my MS Project App calculate ressource units
automatically or at least configure them to be dynamic?
My problem is, that I have one ressource working on two tasks which
overlap.
So I want to assign 100% of the ressource while there is only one task
running and when the second one starts i need 50% of the ressource for
that one thus either of the two tasks should only 50% of the
ressource.

Is this possible?

Project has no such algorithm for automatic assignment of resources.
There are just to many variables. Besides, the project manager's job is
to manage the project, so manage it.

You can use the leveling function, but that will simply delay the second
task so the single resource will not be overallocated.
