Assinging styles to user created master shape

I created a new shape by copying an existing shape and altering it
slightly. My problem is that my new master did not retain the default
style of the shape I copied from.

Specifically, I want text, line, and fill to be the Flow Normal style. If
I edit the master, it appears that all three of these styles are indeed
applied to my new master. I update the master after leaving that screen
and then save the stencil. But when I drop the master onto a new drawing,
it has no style assigned every time.

I am pulling out my hair trying to figure out how to the get the styles I
want to "stick" to my new master. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nevermind, I finally figured it out. If anyone wants to know, my problem
was that the new master I had created was a rectangle with a line though
it, and this was treated as two separate shapes until I grouped them (on
the edit master shape window). Apparently, that made the difference and
after I grouped the two shapes and updated the shape, then the styles
stayed put.
