Assingment Field Doesn't Save

I tried to assign a value to an assignment field (Duration1) using VBA and
the number is there when I look in the Resource Usage view. After I save and
close the file, the value is not there when I open the file again.
Assignment values in custom fields aren't saved with the file?

Johnny,
Spare field values ARE saved with the file. Assuming you are looking at
the right field, it almost sounds like you are working with a dynamic
master file and not saving the subproject file. Does the value in the
spare field "stick" if you enter it manually and then do a save and
re-open?

Just to cover all bases, do you have the SP2 update installed? If not,
install it.

Entering the number manually doesn't make a difference. The value disappears
after closing and reopening the file. Curriously, putting a value in a
Number1 assignment field does save with the file but a value in Duration1
assignment field doesn't. I'm using MS Project Professional (2002) via a
Citrix server with an ODBC data connection. I don't know the specifics of
security updates. I also have MS Project Standard (2003) installed on my
computer and it does save the Duration1 assignment field with the file.

Johnny,
Your earlier post said you were using Project 2003. I don't have Project
2002 so I can't speak to any updates or bugs that it may have. The SP2
update is for Project 2003. It's not a security update, it's a
functionality update. You'll have to talk to your IT folks about how to
do updates via the server.
