Assistance with the filter by form

I have read what is online about the filtering by form but I am have some
questions that I am hoping someone can explain. Once I have the form open in
datasheet view. How can I set this up so that the two combo boxes where the
user can choose to lookup data are both populated to the correct record if
the user chooses only one field to enter the data to search by. What is
happening now is that when I enter data in one combo box all the data for
that record pops up correctly on all the other fields except for the other
combo box where they could possibly to a look up of data. I hope I am
explaining this clearly if not feel free to ask me for clarification. Thanks
