Assumptions about Project Server 2002 Authentication - Sharepoint

Hi,

I'm trying to evaluate Project Server 2002. I've been stuck for a
long time within the installation process. I've read docs on the CD,
a bunch of items here in this newsgroup and the installation
guidelines in the resource kit (August 2003). After all of this
reading I'm still confused as to how to expect the system to function
between Project Server and Sharepoint. I would like to post some
bullets here as assumptions so please correct me if these are wrong.

Before I start with the bullets below I want to share my
configuration. As I mentioned I'm just trying to evaluate PS 2002. I
have a standalone server in my home office. It is Windows 2002 Server
with SQL Server 2000 installed. It is not part of a domain. I have
another workstation Windows 2000 Professional that has Project Pro
2002 installed. They are connected through a linksys router/hub.

Here's what I've determined so far.

1) If I try to used Windows authentication I can expect publishing
problems based upon my configuration. I should use Project Server
Authentication.

2) If I use Project Server Authentication then I should expect
Documents and Issues not to work seemlessly.

3) If I want to use Documents and Issues then I'll have to set up
local logon accounts on Windows 2000 Server.

4) Even if I set up the local logons and continue to use Project
Server authenication then I will get prompted to provide my local
logon userid and password to read the issues. I will continue to have
problems creating issues unless I do something special (not sure what
that is.)

5) When using project server authentication I will not expect the
subwebs for documents and issues to be updated with my local logon
information. Upon publishing this is not done automatically. In other
word if I "manage users" through sharepoint for the site then I will
not expect to find my local logon. I have to add it manually for
issue posting to work.

6) When I sync users for the subweb it will not work based upon my
configuration because the local logon is not really associated with my
project server userid and password.

7) I won't find anywhere a consolidated installation guide for
standalone evalutation configurations that will allow me to undestand
all of the enterprise features.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Thanks!

Trent:

You are 100% correct until you get to number 7. The setup works for on a
single machine, but you're trying to use it between two machines. Put
everything on one machine and you can run a facimilie Enterprise
environment.
