Hi all,
I'm using an ATI dual-head video card on my Win 2000 system, and Word
XP hangs whenever I start it when the desk95 application is running.
This program is required to resize windows to fit correctly and not
span multiple monitors, but when it's running, Word hangs.
I found this site which does talk about this issue -
http://www.freedomscientific.com/fs_support/BulletinView.cfm?QC=537
and it has something to do with Zoom text or some feature built into
Microsoft Word. I can open word fine with 'winword /a', but whenever
Word opens a new window, it hangs.
So, how can I turn off whatever 'feature' of Word is hosing or tell it
to ALWAYS open with /a switch. I don't use any features of Word other
then the word processor functions, no speech to text, zoom text, or
any of that junk... but apparently something starts with XP that I'm
not aware of.
And disabling Desk95 or that ATI software isn't an option. Without
it, Windows sees one huge desktop instead of two monitors. Maximizing
windows span both monitors without the ATI software.
Thanks for any suggestions or ideas. Windows 2000 Pro and Office XP
Pro installed. All updates and patches for both.
