ATI Driver that Works with Publisher

The ATI drivers that I use sometimes prevent the graphics in
Publisher documents from displaying even though the document with
graphics prints OK - A longtime problem posted here regularly,
requiring throttling acceleration to solve.

Anyone found an ATI video driver for the X series (X700, etc.) AGP
card for Windows XP that actually Works with Publisher 2003 (without
hardware acceleration throttling)? If so, please post the Catalyst
version.
Thanks and greatly appreciated!

Have you tried ATI and their support documents? I have an old computer with a Radeon
8500, each new Catalyst version has worked for me.
Your best solution would be the ATI site. I see ATI has drivers for Vista, maybe they
have updated their XP drivers. It has nothing to do with Publisher except Publisher
is more graphic intensive than other most other Office applications. If you have ever
read a Word specific newsgroup it is a problem with those users too when using
graphics.

I just tried the latest 5.12 driver and it, again, failed to
reliably operate with Publisher. I don't get into the kiddy fast 3D
games and was hoping that someone had a found a Windows XP certified
driver that works better with Publisher than the latest drivers.
ATI's site is not to helpful nor are their e-mail tech support
personnel - "not their problem - its MS."

This has been going on for quite some time now with neither side willing
to admit it's their problem or confront the issue.
But I can tell you that it has (so far!) been resolved in the recent
builds of Vista beta 1 running Office 2003.
Hopefully it will work when Vista goes RTM.

Hey, do I sound like a guinea pig - OK, I tried it and the Vista
driver will not install on XP.
I need a tried and true driver that works on XP and with Publisher,
certified by someone who has been fighting this problem for years!

Actually graphics viewed correctly in Pub 2003 under Longhorn (pre
Vista)before ATI even had any drivers available. Which leads me to
conclude that was fixed by MS and not ATI.

Microsoft hasn't changed any Publisher code in Vista (how could it?)

The difference is that on a virgin Vista install, there are no ATI drivers
at all, so generics are used. The generic drivers don't have the same
problems as the ATI drivers.
