ATS Error returns... this time on G4...?!?!

Help!

Early last year we got stuck with an ATS related problem in Word on
Intel Macs. Evenutally this was traced to the code creating thumbnail
images disagreeing with OS X - and was fixed in an Apple update to OS X.

Recently this problem has returned - with very similar characteristics
- on one of our G4 powerbooks. Opening words with some OTF fonts
triggers an ATS based crash. Disabling the fonts avoids the crash.
Have yet to try disabling thumbnails, but will do so when I get a
chance.

Recently both OS X and Office 2004 have been updated - so hard to pin
this down to a particular change in environment.

Absent any others seeing it we'll assume it is a local problem and
simply rebuild laptop from OS X up and hope it goes away. But don't
want to do this if actually this won't solve problem...

So, has anyone seen anything similar?

Thanks in advance for any help avail.

Best regards

Hi Gavin:

Yours is the first report I have seen of the specific issue.

If you care to confirm that you can repro and provide the rest of the
detail, one of us can sling that into the Mac BU for you.

Cheers
