Make sure Word 2004 is running before attempting to open a document.
The Launch Services Database determines which version of Word accepts the
call to open a document. Word 2008 checks and updates it on launch, to
ensure that it is the destination, so there's no point fiddling with it.
But if "Word" is already running, the system won't look any further.
And if you open attachments out of an email without first saving them to the
hard isk, you will eventually get taken out by an Internet Nasty such as a
virus or trojan. Could be next time you do it
Always save first, so your system protection can get a look at it, because
as we all know, an attachment is like a letter from your bank: all is often
not what it seems...
Cheers
Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel
I have both Office 2004 and 2008 installed. I use 2008 for everything except
Word, because I prefer Word 2004 in Attached email word docs, however,
always open by default in Word 2008. Is there a way I can change this to
automatically opening in Word 2004 (without uninstalling Office 2008)?
With thanks,
Bob
