attaching a .pdf or .doc to a email merge

Can you or does anyone know how to attach a .pdf or a .doc
or any kind of attachment to a mail merge that you are
emailing to customers?

I have done the "insert-object(as a icon)..." to the
original document. Then mail mergeing the document via
email. It emails the letter but takes of the attachments
