Attaching Templates to existing Word Documents

Hi,

I am trying to attach a template to an existing Wrod document. The template
has a footer in it, but when I attach it to the document, the footer is not
displayed. This happens when the existing file hasn't got a footer, as well
as when it has got one.

Can anyone help?

By design, the template footer is not supposed to appear when you attach the
template. If you base a new document on the template, then the footer
appears. If you attach the template to an existing document, you gain access
to the styles and macros in the template, but text in the template's body or
footer is not automatically transferred over to the existing document.
