Attaching Word Docs To Visio

Apologies if this is an obvious question, but is it possible to attach
separate Word documents to a Visio flowchart. I'm using Visio 2000 and would
like to add further explanations to each of the steps of the flowchart. I've
had a look at Visio and can't see an obvious way of doing this.

select the appropriate shape and
menu Insert-> Hyperlink

You can have as many links as you want.

Thanks. However, is it possible to attach a document iwthout storing it
centrally. Our setup at work doesn't really lend itself to using hyperlinks.
Was thinking of adding the documents as an attachment like on an email.

In that case use
Insert -> Object

but watch out for the file size.
