Attachment changes based on how it is attached to an email?

I have a user with Outlook 2003 who would like to send a Word document
saved to her desktop as an attachment. If she creates a new email and
uses either Insert | File from the menus or the paperclip icon to
attach a Word doucment, she gets an older version of the word document.
If she right clicks on the document and uses Send To | Mail Recipient,
she gets the current version of the document attached to her email.

Any idea why using the menus in Outlook gives an older version of the
document?

She's not actually navigating to the version that is saved on the desktop?
BTW, I've always understood that it is not a good idea to save files onto
the desktop - it can very easily get corrupted.

That'd be too easy. Good thought, and one of the first I came up
with too.

I watched her, she navigated the same directory structure each time.

And I may have oversimplified when I said "to her desktop" - I meant
her local PC, specifically two folders down from the windows desktop.
(ie, Desktop/Maureen/Contractor Notes)

One other note about why I tell people to NEVER save files to their desktop -
I've seen way too many people delete the icons for the files on their
desktop, thinking it was a shortcut.
