Attachment Compression in Entourage 2008

The default seems to be to compress all attachments, even though the Help
file indicates that only folders are automatically compressed. So, the Help
file is clearly incorrect.

In Preferences, I can choose to de-select "compression." However, I'm just
curious why compression is the factory-selected default for all attachments.

I don't know why - we are only users, not the designers of the applications!

Whatever option you select as the default behaviour in the preferences,
you can change the actual behaviour on a message by message basis by
clicking on the button that shows beneath teh attachments pane in a new
message window when that attachments pane is expanded.
