My client has a database that in one table makes use of several attachment
fields to store multipage pdf documents.
The back end database is on a windows small business server. During the day
these documents are open and closed via the front end access application by
around 3-4 people for viewing from different PC's.
By the end of the day on all the PC's the Access application has slowed
right down. I have advised adding more memory to the server. However I also
have a gut feeling that the pdf's are not effiiciently clearing down memory
when they are opened and closed from Access and even with more memory as the
number of people using the application grows there will again be problems
with speed..
I can't find any info. of this to support my theory - has any one got any
info on this?
Would changing all the fields to hyperlinks though to files sotred elsewhere
on the server help (don't really want to do this though as its a lot of work
and a backeard step for the company).
