Attachment Troubles

I was having trouble with Outlook 03 blocking "potentially unsafe
attachments" and I read something online about adding the Level1Remove key in
the registry. So I did, and now I can SEE the attachments, but when I try
open them now it comes up with an Attachment Security Warning saying I must
save to file to disk. So I read something else online that said I should
just delete the Level1Remove string value totally. So I did, and then I was
right back where I started with outlook blocking the potentially unsafe
attachments. So how do I get rid of both of these problems? Thanks!

You don't. Use Level1Remove remove to make the attachments accessible, and then save the files in order to open them. That's the way Outlook security works.

I appreciate the feedback, but I don't think that's necessarily true. I had
run into this before, and after I deleted the Level1Remove value, it worked
just perfectly. But then once when I was shutting my computer down, I chose
"install updates and shutdown" instead of just shutdown. That update had to
have changed something, because now I have this problem that I was able to
solve before. Thanks!

You didn't say what type of file you're working with. If it's one that Outlook normally blocks, such as .exe, adding it to Level1Remove will make it accessible, with the caveat that you have to save it to disk. If it's one that Outlook normally does not block, such as .doc, adding it to Level1Remove will give it the Level 2 behavior -- which is to require that the file be saved to disk first.

just leave it alone, or is there a regedit I can do for level 2 security?

No, only an adminsitrator in an Exchange environment can demote Level 2 items.
