Outlook I'm Using: Outlook 2003 (11.5608.5606)
Product ID: 70160-OEM-5690134-84523

Problem: Cannot open ANY attachment. I am able to save to
desktop and open there, but would rather not have to do
this.

History: Recently purchased new Dell computer with
software loaded. Changed to Outlook from Outlook Express
last week so I could take advantage of Calendar, Tasks,
etc. Also loaded Norton System Works last week, but it
has no firewall and appears to be unrelated to problem,
according to Dell software support fellow who couldn't
help me solve this problem yesterday.

Other Info: I did find an item on MS Online under
troubleshooting attachments that said: "By default, MS
Outlook blocks potentialy unsafe attachment files (such
as .bat, .exe, .vbs) that can contain viruses . . . ,"
but I can't open any - not even a test attachment from my
sister done in MS Word.

Also, my friend who loves Outlook and encouraged me to
use it says this shouldn't be happening and isn't a
problem for her (although she might have an earlier
version than I do).

I hope this information is helpful to you in trying to
determine what the problem is. I'll await your reply.
Thank you very much.

Betty
