Attension Redmond - SP2 - Strange behavoir!

K

Kevin Watson

I installed the SP2 to our project server this morning in proper fashion and
in order according to the directions which include updating the database.

I needed to make a edit to an outline code that was in place proir to the
service pack. BTY, I added a new smiple outline code and there are no
problems.

But the outline codes to the Project Enterprise outline code 6, now has a
mind of its own. The values in this outline disappear and reappear, very
erratic behavior. Other outline codes appear to work fine. Its this one that
is the largest list of values with up to 3 levels defined.

I open the enterprise global template, select customize codes and its not as
I left it. If I start opening and closing the level one outlines the proper
values now show back up?

Open Project Information and try to select a code from this outline or Open
a new project and try to assign outline codes from drop down, codes will not
expand, the codes are out of order.

Please help this cannot go on.

Kevin:

Have you used illegal characters in the Outline Code name or code values?
This is the only thing that I've seen cause erratic behavior in the OCs.

No, the fields would have also been red if I had used any. I did blow
away that particular outline code and created a new one just like it.
It works like it should.

I'll pass this feedback on. Both this and the resource type filter issue
seem like DB indexing issues. I'm wondering if we should be recommending
that people rebuild the db indexes after installing SP2. I'll discuss it
with the "right people" later today. Thanks for the quick reply.

Gary,

Should you find out anything please let me know. I was also wondering
about the indexing of the database as a cause. I am willing to try and
re-run the SQL update.

In the mean time I would like to point out I now have the same kind of
jumbled mess with the RBS code. My RBS structure has up to 6 levels and
was always working fine prior to the new service pack. When I open the
enterprise template and select customize fields and then the RBS it was
a scrambled mess, I closed the window and selected customize fields
again and it was back to as it should be. I tried opening the
enterprise resource pool to make some edits to the RBS code for some
individuals who had changed departments and I was unable to select from
the RBS code field to make any changes. The + & - signs of the
different levels would not work and it was also a scrambled mess. This
is becoming very frustrating.

Please keep me posted for possible solutions.
