Attn Jim Gordon: Requesting assistance with exporting OE 4.5contacts for use in Entourage

L

Laurie A. Duncan

Hi Jim,

Paul Berkowitz suggested you might be willing to assist me with a dilemma. I
have some old mail and contacts in an OE User(s) folder from OE 4.5 that I
need to import into Entourage X. I am on a machine that is not OS9-bootable
and I cannot get OE 4.5 to launch under Classic mode in Panther. OE 5 loads
fine in Classic, but 4.5 gives a shared library error. I don't have an OE
4.5 installer anywhere I can find, so I can't try a reinstall under Classic.

I finally found a way to get the mail into Entourage, after much trial and
error with every email program I could find, since Entourage won't import
from OE without launching OE, and as I said... OE 4.5 won't launch :) I
thought OE 5 would import the 4.5 files, but it wouldn't. Eventually, I
found PowerMail, which imported the mail, allowed me to export that mail to
mbox format and then import it into Entourage.

My contacts dilemma is described in my previous email to Paul (pasted
below), who was trying to help me out last night on the entourage-talk email
list. If you'd be willing to help out, I will send you the contacts file
(very small, under 1MB) if you reply to me privately with your email
address. If I am asking too much of you, a veritable stranger, I understand
and will graciously accept "no" as an answer :)

And of course, if anyone else can assist, please email me directly. I am
only asking Jim because Paul mentioned he still used OE 4.5 in Classic for
newsreading, and I doubt too many other are! :)

Hi

You should be able to figure out the email address to use (think "hot" in
place of "warmerthanwarm."

I still use OE 4.5 (you can probably figure that out from this message's
header).
