I finally noticed the pattern - Wei-Dong Xu, who is apparently with
Microsoft support, only responds to postings about OWC 11. I think
this is ridiculous. OWC 10 is not some kind of archaic edition of
Office - it's Office XP, which was the current edition till a few
months ago. The object model and functionality offered in OWC 10 and
OWC 11 are very comparable. So Wei-Dong Xu should be able to help with
issues related to OWC 10 if he has training for OWC 11.
So how about it? This technology is obscure, not well understood by
the community of developers (as far as I can tell), and the
documentation and help files from Microsoft are pitiful as usual.
There do seem to be some neat capabilities in OWC, but it is a real
pain to learn because it's supported so poorly. I will probably use
Office 2003 at some point, but at this time all my work is in Access
2000 or Access 2002. So please don't pretend that the just obsoleted
version of Access (and OWC) don't exist any longer.
