Audio file playback problem in PPT2004

My audio files (aiff) do not play properly during looped presentations. They
play fine the first time through, but on repeat loops, the playback stops
after the first slide, instead of playing the full length. I have selected the
correct effect options for the files to play for the desired time length, and
for the first time through the presentation, the audo files play correctly. The
application seems to forget the commands on repeat loops, and defaults to
the audio file stopping after one slide.
I understand that this has been an acknowledged problem in the past. Is
there any way around this?

Problem: Audio files play correctly across slides first time through,
but on subsequent loops, they start on the correct slide and stop as
soon as the subsequent slide comes on. [PP 2004 for Mac, v11.1.]

I've been fighting this (the exact problem David describes in his 5 Aug
04 post, below) for a day or so, thinking I was doing something wrong.
Apparently it's a feature of Powerpoint, because I have now searched
this newsgroup and Googled the world without finding the solution to
this issue.

If anyone knows of a fix or can point to a page with the answer, I'd
appreciate hearing about it.
