Audio Notes

I have been having a problem exporting audio notes from the notebook
view. I beleive that notebook view is the button in the lower left hand
corner, fourth from the left, that opens the page you you can record
on.

When I go to the tools pull down menu there is no audio pull down.
Could this of been disabled by switching back and fourth between
different views? I am using version 11.2.

Yes, you are correct.

* You must be in Notebook Layout View

* The Document must be a Notebook document (it's not the same as a normal
Word document)

* The document must contain an audio recording.

If all three are true, you will see the Tools>Audio Notes>Export item
available.

If you convert the document by displaying it in one of the other Word
document views, then go back to Notebook View, it may be that Word will
remove the Notebook structure and thus disable Audio. I have not tested
this.

Cheers

I closed word, reopened started a new notebookm and layed down a new
audio track. The tools menu still does not show the audio pulldown. I
can record, so I must be in layout view. I have looked in preferences
but to no avail.

Is this pulldown audio menu available at all times?

If you are in Notebook Layout, it should always be available, even on a
fresh new doc with no audio recorded.

I'm gonna guess that maybe a corruption to the Normal template has messed up
your menus. Use the Testing the Normal Template section (and the Finding
section) here:
http://word.mvps.org/mac/MacWordNormal.html

And see if the menu returns.

Word does not remove or disable Notebook Layout properties from a document
once the view is changed. Any of the Notebook Layout specific features -
Audio, Tasks, Titles, etc. - that are added to a document are retained. As
long as the document is saved, of course. :)
