Authentication/Connection fails between Project Pro and SQL Server

Ryan

When I originally setup my project server site I setup a MSProjectServer user
and MSProjectUser as designated in the installation instructions. All was
well with the connection between Project and Project Server until I tried to
make a change to the password more secure an issue and made a change to the
password of my MSProjectUser.

Now it asks for authentication everytime I try to make a connection from MS
Project Pro, and if I open an active project it prompts me three times before
accepting it an moving on as well as everytime anyone makes a change and
syncs it. Needless to say this is beyond annoying and the users aren't too
pleased. I have tapped all of my available resources.

Any ideas?

I recall a knowledgebase article for MSPS2002 (will equally apply to 2003) that walks you through "fixing" corrupted MSProjectServerUser and MSProjectUser accounts. Yeah...here's the number:324835. Try both methods recommended, but the one that I was thinking of is referred to as "Replace Corrupted Accounts"

Hope that helps.

Ryan:

If you change the passwords for these service accounts, you must also edit
the registry entries for their passwords. You do this using the EditSite
tool that you can download from Microsoft.com/downloads.
