Authentication Error 5531

Marion

I'm running Entourage X (v10.5.1) on an Apple iBook (OS 10.2.8) and I
cannot send email through my secure SMTP using password
authentication. I receive the following error message:

"The SMTP server for "User" does not recognize any of the
authentication methods supported by Entourage. To send mail, try
disabling SMTP authentication in the account settings or talk to your
administrator.

Explanation

An unknown error (5531) occured"

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What happens when you disable authentication?

The fix for error 5530:

Toggling the "SMTP server requires authentication" setting in Advanced
sending options of the account settings may fix the problem.
