Hello,
I have a client where I have implemented PS 2003 for them. Their client
machines are currently being upgraded from Win 2000 to Win XP SP2 using a new
machine image. They are using Windows authentication, which worked just fine
with Win 2000 clients, but when they try to connect from an XP client things
are no longer working. The symptoms are as follows.
PWA - In the past, when browsing to the "http://servername/projectserver"
URL, re-direct logic would detect their current Windows account and attempt
to match the user name with one registered in PS. If a match is found, they
are automatically authenticated. If not, they get a login screen for
entering non-Windows credentials. Now with XP, despite being logged in with
a valid Windows account (I have double checked that things still match), no
match is found.
Project Pro - When trying to connect with a Windows account, now the result
is an error message that says "Unexpected server response." The details of
the error indicate "You do not have permission to view this directory or page
using the credentials that you supplied because your Web browser is sending a
WWW-Authenticate header field that the Web server is not configured to
accept."
All of this led to me think that something changed with respect to the
browser in the new image. It turns out that on the old image, they had IE6
SP1 and in the new image they have IE6 with a special newer build that comes
from Win XP SP2. I have not been able to find anything indicating known
problems with this IE version and PS 2003, but it seems like it is likely
related.
Any help on how to cure this issue would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Mark
