Authentication problems

I have a user that has been added to the ProjectServer
with full authority. I have had to use ProjectServer
authentication because Windows authentication wasn't
working - they have a laptop from home running XP, and
signon to the domain when needed. If I used Win
authentication, he could not publish a project without an
error saying that the 'Windows User Account is not
valid'. Even though he signed into the domain as Project
was opened. The collaborate tab says that
the 'Identification for Microsoft Project Server' is the
name of his laptop, which is not in the domain - I assume
that is the problem, but don't know how to get around
that - so I used ProjectServer Authentication.

My secondary problem is now getting him to link to STS.
If I do the Synchronize Administrators, it only picks up
the Win authenticated users, so he is not setup. I am not
sure how to link the users of ProjectServer to the users
of STS so that they are seen as the same - if they are
ProjectServer authenticated users. I seem to be in a
Catch-22.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Ed
