auto advance not working

i have a presentation of only 3 slides. for some reason, the slides
are not automatically advancing, even though i have the option clicked
in 'slide transition' (set to 3 seconds). i could've sworn this was
working at first and now it's not. each of the slides have a
background pattern fill, text and 2 have photos. nothing fancy.
please help--i need to send this for mothers day. thanks!

also, i just discovered, this has to do with the music i added in the
first slide. if i delete the music, it advances fine. is there any
way to have the music (it's a cd track) play and the slides advance
normally?

One thing to check - Slide Show>Set Up Show - Use Slide Timings if Present.

yup, it's checked. it works fine as long as there's no music attached
to the first slide. if i have music in the first slide, it doesn't
advance, even if that's checked.
