Auto complete

I just had to reinstall MS Office (The version that comes with Windows XP)
after my hard drive crashed and I'm trying to get the rest of my settings
back to normal. When I go into Advanced Email Options to turn on Auto
Complete for email addresses (Suggest names while completing To, Cc, and Bcc
fields ) the box is unchecked and gray. I don't know if something else I
changed made it so I can't change that option or what but I'd really like to
turn it back on.

There is NO version of Office that comes with Windows XP. They are separate
products separately licensed. It's conceivable that your PC vendor included
Office with your PC, but that dosn't change what I said.

The autocompletion cache is normally kept in %AppData%\Microsoft\Outlook, is
named the same as your profile name, and has the .NK2 extension. Make sure
you have ownership of this folder. If I were seeing what you see, I'd
create a new mail profile.

Are you sure? %AppData% is a hidden folder and you can't see it unless you
enable hidden files and folders.

Follow the other advice you've been given re: folder settings. Make certain
that you BACK UP your existing NK2 file.

You can download a demo version of a utility that we wrote that will let you
open the NK2 file, but if your NK2 file is not properly registered to your
Outlook Profile, chances are my software won't see it to open it. You can
try anyway by going to: www.dcs-imaging.com/products.htm. It's called
Owtlook.

If you do find the file, you can send it to me and I'll open it for you.
