auto completion not working

johnsail

Hi
First - I have read the responses on the two existing threads on this subject.

I have outlook 2003 running on workstation. Exchange 2003 runs the email.

Auto completion does not work although all settings appear the same as a
workstation that has no problems.

Runs XP Pro SP3 and Office 2003 SP3.

There is no NK2 file in the directory nor is one created although the
autocomplete function does work for second (and subsequent) use of addresses
in the current session. We are back to no suggestions after Ouitlook has been
closed and re-opened.

I have tried copyoing an NK2 file from a machine that works but the presence
of this file does not seem to be recognised.

One of the previous responses suggests creating a new 'profile'.

What is meant by this please and are there any more suggested solutions to
my problem.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Russ - thanks for the response.

I do not understand what is meant by a "new profile".

Will you explain please.

The only suggestion that is valid is the one to create a new profile.
Nothing else would work.

A profile is the collection of settings Outlook needs so that it can connect
to your mail server(s), connect to your data, and present your other user
configurable options, like email editor, signatures, views etc. (including
whether you want to use autocompletion).
You cannot run Outlook until you create a profile. Your profile has become
damaged and cannot connect to your autocompletion cache. That's why you need
a new one.
