auto deletion of emails

Is it possible to set a preference to have email automatically deleted after a certain number of days?

I get 100s of emails a week and when I try to delete them in bulk, it completely screws up Entourage, and I have to rebuild the database over and over.

Last time I tried to delete a bunch of emails, I could no longer even OPEN Entourage OR Safari and had to re-install Leopard.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Sure. Create a schedule whose action part deletes mail older than a certain
number days from those folders from which you want old mail deleted.

For example, I have such a schedule that runs whenever I quit Entourage (and
every two days if I don't quit in between).

Hi Diane,

I'm just answering because I had to take my iMac into the shop for five days to get it all sorted out. They ended up putting in a new hard drive.

I've set my mail to auto delete so I hope that solves the problem. I AM having lots of other problems with Office 2008 though. Sigh.

What kind of problems? Give us as much details as possible.
