Auto entered date not wanted

Just a question to all you excel gurus - I have a raw data file that
gets submitted to me every month (i actually get about 80 of them) the
data contains a column labelled agecohorts - when people dump from
their databases into excel the 5-9 and 10-14 fields turn to dates -
which I - to my great frustration - have to manually change - I have
looked everywhere in the preferences to make this not happen.

Does anyone know how to stop this happening.

3) How do you want agecohorts to appear
4) How do you import the dtata? Is it text, csv...
