Auto Filter not working

I have a strange problem which occurs from time to time whereby I am unable
to activate the Auto Filter function on a list. The filter buttons simply do
not appear! Does anybody have any idea why this might happen??

Not this either! I am allowed to select Auto Filer and the tick is displayed
next to the Auto Filter option following this. Just that there are no
selection boxes!!

Don't worry too much folks - only happens once in a while - just had me
stumped!

I've seen this irritating problem, too.

Sometimes minimizing the worksheet window and resizing will show them.
Sometimes doing the same to the application window will help. Sometimes
removing the autofilter and reapplying will help. Sometimes closing and
reopening will help.

Sometimes nothing helps!
