Auto Formatting of Telephone Numbers in Contacts Lists/Business Ca

Upgraded to Outlook 2007
Now when entering mobile phone numbers Outlook automatically decides that
first two digits are an area code and autoformats them with brackets etc. I
want to stop this - in Australia (Region set to Australia etc) mobile numbers
are normally in the 1234-567-890 format. Can I turn this particular auto
format feature off - I dont mind doing it globally so to speak if it cannot
be turned off in Outlook alone and if I can how do I do it?

Masking of phone numbers in Outlook has never been under user control and
did not change in Outlook 2007. It is based on the default dialing location
you have set for your operating system.

I have the same problem of Tony Mawdsley. How can I disable my dialing
rules? here to make a mobile phone call we can´t use the () or - the number
must be continuos like 81511000.

Who said anything about dialing rules? What are you trying to achieve? As I
said, you cannot control how Outlook masks phone numbers. Dialing rules are
another matter entirely and not related to Outlook. They are part of your
telephony settings.

So here's what I've found out. If you live in Canada or the United States, I'm sure this will work. If not, it still might work.

Go to Control Panel -> Phone and Modem Options -> Edit (to edit your default location).

Set your Area Code to 1. Yes, a single digit, equal to 1.

Click OK, and OK. Now your numbers should stay they way you type them.
