Auto lettering Exhibits

I am working in a very large brief - how do I
automatically letter exhibit references so that if I move
a paragraph and change the Exhibit letter (where the
original Exhibit exists) all references to that exhibit
will change?

You'll need to use autonumbering. Assuming the exhibits are like appendixes,
see http://www.ShaunaKelly.com/word/numbering/NumberingAppendixes.html. You
can then use a cross-reference to the heading number.

Barb,

You can insert a Caption either at the top or bottom of
your exhibit, using the Insert Caption option. After
you've inserted the caption, you can insert a cross
reference to the caption using insert cross-reference. If
you inserted your caption as a figure, select Figure for
the reference type, scroll and locate the appropriate
caption and click insert. Use the insert reference to drop
down to select the appropriate listing.

You can customize your caption by creating a new label.
Make sure when you move the exhibit, that you move the
caption with it, so that the cross-references correctly
update.
