Auto numbering script for Form used in Sharepoint??

Does anybody have any examples of VBScript code that can be embedded in an
InfoPath form that can provide an automatically incrementing unique reference
number for each form as they are submitted? Ideally generating the number
OnSubmit based on an entry stored in a Sharepoint list??
