Auto-Numbering within a table

Hello -

Is it possible to have auto numbering between cells?

Example is a two column table:

Column 1 Column 2

row 1> 1.1 blah blah blah more blah blah blah

row 2> 1.2 blah blah blah more blah blah blah


I can get numbering to work within a cell, but not between cells.

Any help is appreciated.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean by "between."

Thanks for replying. What I mean is that the numbering be automatic from
one cell to the next (that is below it.) If it would help, I could send you

duh .. I never tried to highlight more than one of the table entries!
