"Auto numbering"

I have imported a foxpro table which contains the record
number.
The record number is not continuous ie, 1 to 2598 with
numbers missing in between.
I would like to use automatic numbering for new records
using the last record plus one.
I am a begginer...any one knows how to do it?

If you set up your table in Access to have an Autonumber field and append
the existing data to that table, the Autonumber field will continued from
one more than the last number used.
