Auto Populate fields

I am a relative newbee to InfoPath but have enjoyed the experience. I would
really like to be able to "easily" autopopulate two fields. Such as
"Requester Name" and "Requester Email Address". Is there a simple way of
having these two fields talk to each other. In other words when the
requester inserts their name via a drop-down list, I would like the
Requester Email Address text box to be filled out so they do not have to add
that information manually.

Thanking you in advance.

The answer really depends on how you are getting values into your dropdown
list of names.

Ultimately, if you have the display value of your Requestor Dropdown be the
person's name, and the value of the dropdown be the email address then you
can create a rule on the dropdown to set the email address to the value of
the dropdown.

If you are using a datasource to populate the dropdown you can use a similar
rule to set the value of the email address and create a filter on that rule
to select the email address of the person selected in the Requestor dropdown.

Thank you for the prompt reply. I am using an XMLdatasource to populate the
dropdown but can not get the rule to work. I have two reference books I have
been using - Developing Solutions with Microsoft Infopath and Introducing
Microsoft Office InfoPath 2003. Can you point me to the proper section in
either of these books that will help me walk through the rule I need to be
using?

Thanks again. Karyl
