Auto Recovery is Malfunctioning

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel When I launch Word for the first time each day after logging into my system, Word will open the intended file, but it will also open several other revently used documents in "Recovery Mode". This problem started when I tried to solve another problem. My original problem was that Word would crash every time I quit. I went online for a solution. It was suggested that I remove 3 word related preference files (I dont recall the names right now) and have Word rebuild them. That solved the problem of Word crashing with every quit, but created this new problem.

The only other possible clue to this mystery is this: I also recently started using Chronosync 4.0 to synch files from my Mac to my corporate server shared drive. Not sure if this is in any way related to my Word problem.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Each AutoRecovery file should continue coming back until you Save it or
Delete it.

Once you have chosen "Delete", Word then knows you REALLY don't want it, and
you won't be offered it again.

If you simply "Close" them, Word will assume your answer meant "Not Now!"
and it will continue to offer them.

Hope this helps

John,

Thanks for your help. Where are the Autorecovery files stored on my Mac? I am assuming I will need to locate them in order to delete them?

Thank You!

No:  When the recovered documents appear, there is an option to delete each one if you click it in the side-bar.

The AutoRecovery files are hidden and have strange names, it’s not safe to try to delete them directly.

Cheers
