Auto Recovery Problem - Office XP

I keep getting an error message telling me that Word and
Excel are unable to perform Auto Recovery.

In Excel, the message told me to go to the Auto Recovery
tab under options.

I was unable to select ANY TAB under options because of
this message:

Cannot access directory 'MS Office Auto Recovery Files'

I do have that directory under MY Documents. Should it
be somewhere else as well?

What do I do?
