I have Outlook 2002. I'm trying to set up an auto-reply (NOT an Out-of-Office
message), that will send a custom reply message each time someone submits a
message to the mailbox.
I've walked through instructions found on the "Microsoft Office Online" site
(http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/assistance/HA010347871033.aspx), but it
doesn't work.
Here’s what I did:
1. Went to Tools -> Rules Wizard
2. Clicked “New†to create a new rule
3. Clicked “Start from a blank ruleâ€
4. Highlighted “Check messages when they arriveâ€, then clicked “Nextâ€
5. Selected “sent to people or distribution listâ€
6. From the rule description area, I clicked on the underlined text “sent to
people or distribution listâ€
7. Found the mailbox name I want (which is a shared mailbox I have in my
folder list), clicked the “TO†button, then “OKâ€, then clicked “Nextâ€
8. Selected “have server reply using a specific messageâ€
9. From the rule description area, I clicked on the underlined text ““have
server reply using a specific messageâ€
10. Created my auto-reply message, then clicked “Save and Closeâ€
11. I clicked next, didn’t need any exceptions, so clicked “Nextâ€
12. Named the rule “Test Auto-replyâ€
13. Clicked “Finishâ€, then clicked “OKâ€
