Auto rules and MSN Accounts

Is it just with Outlook 2007 that rules applied to MSN accounts wont
automatically run? It was doing it for me before I upgraded to 2007. I just
read in another post that it has something to do with my msn accounts being
MAPI and not POP? Anyone know why that makes a difference? Secondly, is it
possible to create a rule to pull all my msn mail into a folder in outlook,
and run rules so that they automatically run on that folder? Thus
circumventing the whole MSN thingy? Is there a difference between MSN
premium accounts and hotmail free accounts? And again does that make a
difference? Or am I just SOL at getting auto rules to work with MSN accounts?

No, that has never been supported.

Legacy accounts offered POP3 access. MSN accounts are now (read: since many
years) accessed via a HTTP account or the Outlook Connector. Outlook does
not support rules on those account types.

No, unless you use a 3rd party tool that emulates behavior of an MSN account
like a POP3 account.

Yes, mailbox and attachment size, sync support for Calendar, and some other
benefits but nothing when it comes to rules.

You must create the rules in the Live Hotmail web interface. Basically
setting rules is a set-it-and-forget-it kind of thing. It's not like you're
changing your rules on a daily basis, right? ;-)
